Hello all!

I just wanted to take a moment and give you a quick update as to where we are at with Red Foundry and what you should expect in the next few weeks. First of all, we sincerely appreciate the tremendous support and excitement we’ve seen from you during these first weeks! Please keep it up!

Secondly, we know a bunch of you are ready and rearing to start building apps, and we apologize if we haven’t been able to let you into the beta program yet. We are currently waiting for Apple to approve the latest version of our viewer app (the one in the demo video). As soon as Apple approves it, we will start letting more people into the beta program. Unfortunately this is out of our hands and Apple is the one who controls the schedule. If you know someone at Apple who can call in a favor for us, please do! : )

Lastly– as a result of your feedback and app ideas, Red Foundry is undergoing some pretty major changes that are going to open the realm of possibilities for apps built upon it. In its current version, Red Foundry is perfectly suited for apps that expose a lot of content (like music, photos, blogs, etc), but it’s not well suited for apps that required any sort of user input. We are working on a new version of Red Foundry that we hope to release in a few weeks that will allow app builders to create complex forms to send and receive data from other web enabled applications. This now means that apps built on Red Foundry will be able to integrate with just about any external XML/Web based API. With the exception of animated games, there isn’t really much you won’t be able to build with this new version of Red Foundry. We’re extremely excited about these new capabilities and can’t wait to show you more in the coming weeks!

Again, we thank everyone for their support and patience and are looking forward to opening up the beta program to a broader audience very soon!

Cheers,

-jim
